Download Facebook Profile Pictures

Copy the link to a Facebook profile—from the address bar, or from the "Copy link to profile" option in Facebook's own menu and paste it into the field above. FBVidDl loads the picture Facebook is currently serving for that profile and shows you a preview. From there, you can save it to your device. This only works with profiles you could already view without logging in. If a profile requires a login to see anything, its picture isn't something this tool — or any similar tool — can retrieve.

About image size and quality

Facebook stores and serves profile pictures at different sizes depending on the device, the profile's own settings, and how long ago the picture was uploaded. FBVidDl pulls the largest version Facebook makes available for that link at the time you request it — it doesn't create detail that isn't already in the source image, and it can't guarantee a specific resolution. If a profile picture looks small or slightly compressed after downloading, that's coming from how Facebook is serving the image for that account, not a limitation being added by this tool.

If a profile picture won't load

A few things cause this, and they're usually specific:

• The link isn't a profile link. Post, photo, or page links point to a different piece of content try the Facebook Image Downloader for those instead.
• The profile requires a login to view. If you can't see the picture by opening the link yourself in a private/incognito window, the tool won't be able to either.
• The profile no longer exists, or the username changed. Re-copy the link directly from the profile.
• A temporary issue on Facebook's side. Wait a minute and try again.

FBviddl does not access private profiles, does not enhance resolution beyond what Facebook's servers provide, and does not retrieve any picture that a logged-out visitor could not already see. If a feature isn't listed above, it should be assumed that it is not available.

A screenshot captures what appears on screen at the time it is taken, including the surrounding interface. The image is limited to what Facebook displays, which is usually a small, constrained version. Downloading the image skips the extra steps of cropping and resizing a screenshot and instead gives you a copy of the actual file.

That said, sometimes a screenshot is all you need. When image quality isn't a priority, taking a screenshot has no real drawbacks.

Copyright and Responsible Use

Individuals generally retain ownership of their profile photos, even when the profile is public. Being able to download a photo doesn't mean it's acceptable to reuse it for an impersonation account, a deceptive profile, harassment, or commercial purposes. If you're downloading your own picture, there's no issue. If it's someone else's, consider carefully why you're downloading it — no misuse, no impersonation, and a reasonable reason for saving it in the first place.
